- Montreal: MOP 19 The United Nations Conference on the ozone layer was held in Montreal, September 17-21, 2007. The 20th Anniversary of the Montreal Protocol was celebrated on a special day (September 16, 2007) and throughout the week. All participants recognized the success of the Protocol and many awards were given. The IIR, jointly with UNEP, disseminated a special issue of the Newsletter of the IIR on the environment and a document entitled "Refrigeration Drives Sustainable Development" which presents the state of the art of the sector and its technologies. It was appreciated and has enhanced the IIR's visibility and so has the statement presented to the high-level segment of the Plenary Session and participation in a side event involving African countries.
