In November and December, the IIR was present at three events around the world:
- Refcold in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India
The Indian Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers (ISHRAE) is used to organise a big exhibition including seminars, ACREX each February and the IIR regularly participates. For the first time, ISHRAE organised an exhibition including seminars on the cold chain for food and health products. The IIR, which signed a partnership with ISHRAE, cosponsored the event and helped ISHRAE to organise seminars on low GWP refrigerants and on the cold chain. The event took place in Gandhinagar (Gujarat) on November 22-24, 2018, it was well attended and ISHRAE decided to continue to organise each year the same event, Refcold, in different Indian cities. The IIR will continue to support these important and interesting events.
- SIFA 2018 in Lyon, France
SIFA (Salon Interprofessionnel du Froid et de ses Applications) exhibition, which took place in Lyon, France on November 28-29, gathered all stakeholders of the refrigeration sector through 120 stands and over 20 workshops dedicated to commercial refrigeration, industrial refrigeration, food cold chain, refrigerants, etc.
The booth shared by the French Association of Refrigeration (AFF) and the IIR welcomed many visitors.
Jean-Luc Dupont, Head of the Scientific and Technical Information Department, represented the IIR at this exhibition and gave a presentation on supermarkets within a workshop dedicated to commercial refrigeration and attended by around 70 participants. Numerous questions raised by the attendees dealt on the possible technical options and refrigerants to adopt in order to comply with the EU “F-gas” Regulation.
At this occasion, he promoted the recent IIR Informatory Note “Advancements in supermarket refrigeration”1 prepared by R. Lazzarin and C. Zilio, and the new e-book “Technological options for retail refrigeration”2 prepared with the London South Bank University.

- 49th International HVAC&R Congress and Exhibition, Belgrade, Serbia
The 49th “International Congress and Exhibition on heating, refrigeration and air-conditioning” organised by the Serbian association of refrigeration took place in Belgrade on December 5-7, 2018.The IIR is used to cosponsor these conferences, one of the most important events in South East Europe. A student event and competition was organised with many Romanian and Serbian students, in order to attract more people in these fields.
