LG Electronics claims to have launched the world's largest home refrigerator.
It has 4 doors and an internal storage capacity of 910 litres, this being 40 litres more than the largest previously existing models. The new model uses LG's fourth-generation linear compressors that improve refrigeration and energy efficiency, and costs around USD 3000.
A special feature of the new model: the right door allows access to the main storage space, or a press of a button opens a slim compartment inside the door where commonly needed items can be stored and retrieved. Given that the doors are opened 20 to 50 times a day, this feature will help achieve energy savings.
Overall, the new model will consume 8 to 17% less energy than previous models.
