Mexico: new energy efficiency standard regarding air conditioners
Mexico’s Ministry of Energy has issued a mandatory standard (NOM-023-ENER-2010) that establishes minimum energy efficiency limits, test procedures and labelling requirements for mini-split and multi-split air conditioners.
The standard applies to air conditioners which are single-loop (cooling only) or reversible loop (heat pump), electric-powered or mechanical compressed, non-tube split air conditioners with cooling capacities up to 19 kW.
The standard also requires air conditioners to carry a label with such information as the product’s brand, model, power consumption, net cooling effect, energy efficiency ratio and energy savings. It will be effective from September 1, 2011.
