The IIR would like to express its sincere condolences to the family and relatives of Robert Heap, who died on March 11, 2014, at the age of 72.
Initially, Robert was a member of the previous IIR Commission D2/3 on Storage and Transport (1984-1987 and 1996-1999) later to become the Vice-President (1988-1995).
He was then the President of the Section D, Storage and Transport (2000-2003). Also, he was the President of the Science and Technology Council (2004-2007) and the UK delegate on the Executive Committee (2000-2007).
In recognition of his numerous contributions, he received the IIR Honorary President Award in 2007.
Robert was also the President of the UK Institute of Refrigeration (1997-2000) and also had an important influence on the transport industry as President of Cambridge Refrigeration Technology.
He was awarded the MBE (Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) for services to the refrigeration industry.
The IIR and refrigeration industry have lost a very valuable member and great friend.
