Carrier Transicold has received the John Connell Enterprise in Quiet Transport Award 2011 presented by the Noise Abatement Society.
The award comes as recognition of breakthroughs embodied in its quiet Vector TM 1550 City refrigeration unit.
The PIEK-certified unit features a ColdTouch display in the cab which enables the driver to switch to PIEK mode and optimize daytime and night-time use.
PIEK standards stipulate that noise levels during night delivery must remain below 60 dB. The Netherlands initiated the PIEK system, but France, Germany, Spain, the UK and other European countries are implementing noise abatement.
