Out of the ordinary: Fridge still tireless after 74 years

Joan Pritchard's fridge has been running with virtually no interruption for 74 years. The fridge was specially fitted into the kitchen wall when she and her husband John bought the detached house in Colwyn Bay, North Wales in 1972; it was installed in 1936 by John Howell Williams and his young son David, who founded JD Refrigeration and was obviously designed to last: apart from a fan belt snapping in 1990, it seems to have been running all the time. www.dailyrecord.co.uk
