Out of the ordinary: Vanilla and ice skating on the Eiffel Tower
Special treat for the festive season: skating on a 200 m² vanilla-perfumed rink 57 m above ground level on the Eiffel Tower, with hot wine and cakes served as refreshments. Installing the rink was a technical feat: 10 tonnes of refrigerating equipment were hoisted up to the 1st floor of the tower using a huge crane, and 5000 metres of piping containing glycolated water cool the 30 tonnes of water used in the 200 m² rink. Lighting under the ice provides a festive touch. This is not the first time a skating rink has been installed on the tower: in 1969, another temporary rink was inaugurated by a skating bear from the Moscow Circus!
