US Environmental Protection Agency

The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is announcing new Energy Star requirements - effective as of January 1, 2010 - for commercial refrigerators and freezers, which, on average, will be 33% more energy efficient than standard models. Under the new scope of products covered by Energy Star, commercial glass door refrigerators and freezers are expected to save up to USD 800 per refrigerator and USD 2500 per freezer over the expected 10-year life of the product. jones.enesta@epa.gov, www.energystar.gov
