Résumé

The investigation of an air-cycle using a pressure wave machine for potential use as an air-conditioner for truck cabins will be presented. The pressure wave machine is a combined compression-expansion-machine that runs almost without additional energy, only driven by the air flow through the compression and the expansion part of the machine. For a cycle-configuration using a pressure wave machine, an additional compressor is required. The advantage of using such a cycle within a truck is that the energy required to drive the additional compressor can potentially be taken from the energy of the exhaust gas coming from the motor. This energy can be converted using a turbo-exhaust charger. Theoretical evaluations based on models of this cycle configuration will be presented and compared to theoretical performances of common air-cycles without a pressure wave machine. Additionally, measurements performed on a test rig with a pressure wave machine will be presented and discussed.
