Résumé

Numerical simulation of desiccant air-conditioning (DAC) cycle has been conducted for greenhouse airconditioning (AC) application for four climatic cities i.e. Fukuoka, Multan, Kuala Lumpur, and Bangkok. Honeycomb desiccant blocks composed of organic polymer desiccant is assumed for analysis. Simulation model is programmed into MATLAB which utilizes fundamentals of adsorption isotherms, adsorption kinetics, adsorption heat, and associated thermo-physical properties. Results showed that Fukuoka’s climate possesses least AC load in order to maintain the ideal greenhouse air conditions. On the other hand Multan’s climate possesses worst situation for the similar conditions. The greenhouse DAC system for Fukuoka possesses maximum COP at day/night time and the values remains almost stable for multiple supply air conditions. However, the COP of other cities decreases with the increase in supply air humidity ratio. It is found that the Fukuoka and Kuala Lumpur based systems enable higher COP at day time as compared to night time, whereas it is opposite in case of Multan and Bangkok. Highest COP is obtained from Fukuoka based greenhouse DAC system and followed by the Kuala Lumpur. However, the minimum COP of greenhouse DAC system is resulted from Multan at day time and from Bangkok at night time.
