Résumé

Successful compressor development in the last 50 years is described along with technical and economic optimization and new versions of piston compressors and the successful development and introduction of the rotary piston compressor in screw and scroll versions. Successful basic research permits an applicable predetermination of many data, modules and functional elements, but there is still room for research in certain important fields.
