Résumé

This work focuses on exploring the feasibility to use conical solution sheets for refrigerant vapour absorption. Experimental measurements were carried out spraying an aqueous lithium bromide solution with a hollow cone type commercial nozzle into a water vapour atmosphere. The atmosphere pressure range tested was 1.0-2.2 kPa and the solution flow rate range tested was 28-47 kg/h. It was observed that the absorption process was over at about 200 mm downstream of solution injection. However, about 60% of the process was been carried out on sheet disintegration at 40 mm downstream, that is, at about 4 ms after solution injection. Additionally, experiments evidenced that sheet deformation assisted the vapour absorption. Hence, the vapour absorbed per solution flow rate was more than 10% on sheet disintegration at a flow rate of 40 kg/h as compared with that at a flow rate of 30 kg/h. Conversely, the participation in the absorption of the droplets population generated at sheet disintegration decreased with the flow rate.
