Résumé

Discusses the research results of the PASCOOL European research programme on the passive cooling of buildings. Presents future research issues in this field regarding the impact of the outdoor environment on the cooling load of buildings, comfort requirements under transient conditions during summer, the impact of outdoor air pollution on indoor air quality, development of alternative cooling systems and techniques and the development of integrated design concepts optimising the use of solar heating, passive cooling and natural light in buildings.
