Activités des fabricants dans le domaine du confinement des frigorigènes en France : travail en cours et premiers résultats.

Refrigerant containment manufacturers' activities to achieve refrigerants containment in France: work in progress and first results.

Résumé

Containment is the result of good practice but also of adequate design, manufacturing and choice of leaktight components such as seals, valves, safety valves, etc. Cetim, the technical research centre for the mechanical industry in France, has developed experimental methods that evaluate components in terms of tightness, by accelerated aging. The methods make it possible to recommend design improvement, when necessary. The paper describes the experimental methods, and presents results for different components in terms of leak tightness. Based on laboratory results, an experimental standard is under preparation. The paper also describes a specific approach based on FMECA (Failure Mode, Effects and Criticality Analysis) that is being tested by Cetim at different industrial sites. A case study is described for this approach that is proving to be effective and makes it possible to identify leak sources and to propose adequate remedies. The leak reduction for the case presented in the paper is estimated to be as high as 20%.
