Résumé

Ground source heat pumps (GSHPs) have advantages such as energy-saving and lower initial cost of auxiliary heat source. In this study, the characteristics of energy saving and economy of a GSHP with a gas boiler were investigated by numerical simulation and case study according to the weather data and fuel prices at a city in Xinjiang. The results show that if the design heating load of the GSHP and the gas boiler was 60 and 40%, respectively, the source energy consumption did not increase significantly, however, the best economy was achieved. In the case studied, the heat output of the gas boiler was only 8.3% of the total, and the total coal equivalent increased by only 5.22% compared with that in the case of 100% design heating load supplied by the GSHP, while the smallest present value of cost (249.3 yuan/m2) and the largest incremental net present value (47.8 yuan/m2) were acquired.
