Résumé

In this work, heat and mass transfer in a mesoporous silica-gel (MS-Gel) dehumidifier is investigated via numerical analysis. A two-dimensional transient model is developed based on the conservation principles of momentum, mass and energy balances. The adsorption performance of the MS-Gel adsorbent is captured by considering the Langmuir-Sips adsorption model in the mass transfer equation of the simulated desiccant layers. In comparison with the conventional silica-gel, the MS-Gel has a larger adsorption capacity for water and its unique adsorption characteristic makes it appropriate for dehumidification applications. Our previous experimental measurements have demonstrated better adsorption performance than conventional silica-gel dehumidifiers [1]. The theoretical results predicted in this study are in good agreement with these experimental measurements validating this conclusion.
