Oil and gas offshore vessels are of many types illustrated in the article. All of them have very expensive workers living on board who must be kept comfortable 24 x 7 and safe from exposure to hazardous gases and vapours during the drilling operations. A multitude of safety codes apply to the design of the HVAC systems.
