Applications des matériaux à changement de phase micro-encapsulés et de leurs coulis.

Applications of micro-encapsulated phase change materials and their slurries.

Résumé

Phase Change Materials (PCMs) can store heat or cold in a melting and crystallization cycle. During the phase transition, energy is stored or released from the material at a constant temperature. Micro-encapsulation of PCMs enables to handle them independently from their solid or liquid state. These microcapsules are tiny containers of about 5-10 µm in diameter, which surround discrete cores of paraffinic PCM material with a solid and dense polymeric shell. BASF has developed PCM microcapsules to a production scale for a variety of applications: construction materials containing micro-encapsulated PCMs are used in buildings for room temperature control; PCM microcapsules have been attached to woven and non-woven textiles for comfort enhancement, using state of the art coating technologies; recently, slurries of microencapsulated PCMs have been tested in air-conditioning, integrated collector storage, and engine cooling systems.
