Applications orientées vers le contrôle des simulations cryogéniques et radio-fréquentielles couplées basées sur un modèle de cryomodule MATLAB/Simscape.

Control-oriented applications of cryogenic & RF coupled simulations based on a MATLAB/Simscape cryomodule model.

Résumé

Cryomodules are used in the accelerating sections of powerful superconducting linear accelerators. They host superconducting radiofrequency (RF) cavities dipped into liquid helium pools, which cryogenic process is strongly coupled to the cavity control systems. Process simulation based on dynamic system modelling is used to test and assess the cryogenic control aspects before the equipment is installed. Previous work did focus on such hardware-in-the-loop approaches, yet either on RF or on cryogenics exclusively, and sticking to low physical representativity. Rather, we developed a detailed component-level cryomodule model, simulating the 2 K cryogenic process and coupled to the cavity controls. We first built a MATLAB/Simulink multiphysic and modular simulation platform. Then, we setup each component models using data obtained from their individual tests and simulations. This method is being applied to the MINERVA prototype cryomodule, validating the model against prototype tests and conducting control-oriented studies, in view of further series developments.
