Résumé

From research ship to satellite, from telescope to LHC collider at the CERN, very large research instruments and infrastructures play a vital role in fundamental and applied research in a large number of disciplines. Particularly, SOLEIL, located in the south of the Paris area, is one the latest synchrotron light sources built in Europe. Remarkably, its outstanding properties allow exploring inert and living matter at an unprecedented exhaustive and precise level.
