Calcul des propriétés équivalentes d'un lit refroidissant, par la méthode du problème inverse et l'homogénéisation.

Calculation of the equivalent properties of a refrigerant bed using the inverse problem method and homogenization.

Résumé

According to the applied field level and the material used, a direct thermal cycle or an active magnetic regenerative refrigeration cycle can be investigated. A subdivided refrigerant bed is required to enhance the heat exchange and to optimize the cooling power obtained (spheres, strips, grid, honeycomb, etc.). To study the electromagnetic behaviour of such a system, numerical methods like finite element are recommended. However, when the dimensions of one cell (plate, sphere) are negligible compared with the dimensions of the whole system these methods fail. For a better study of the electromagnetic behaviour, one should replace the real inhomogeneous bed (MCE material + air or fluid) by an equivalent homogeneous one. In this paper, an inverse problem method is introduced to calculate the equivalent electromagnetic properties of the homogenous bed. Then, a direct homogenization method is introduced and validated. Finally, it is shown that a huge gain in computing time is obtained by this last homogenization.
