Résumé

In this study, flow and heat transfer characteristics of ice slurry were experimentally investigated using narrowtubes. Ice slurry was produced from ethanol solution. The properties of aqueous solution in the ice slurry, such asthe kinematic viscosity, were then clarified, and Reynolds numberfor the ice slurry was set as a constant throughthe experiment. Reynolds number, the diameter of the tubes and the ice packing factor (IPF) were varied as theexperimental parameters, and coefficients of pipe friction and heat transfer were measured. As a result, for laminarflow, it was found that the coefficients of pipe friction and heat transfer increase with the IPF. The rate of increaseof the pipe friction coefficients is high in the case of a low Reynolds number. For turbulent flow, the ratio of thecoefficients of pipe friction was 1 for each condition in the case of a low IPF. The ratio of coefficients of pipefriction then decreased slightly at a particular IPF and increased with the IPF in the high-IPF region. Moreover, theoretical analysis was carried out using the experimental results, and we attempted to clarify the flowcharacteristics using the apparent Reynolds number, which was determined by considering the ice slurry aspseudoplastic fluid.
