Chocs thermiques subis par des artères pendant la cryoconservation.

Thermal stresses of artery during cryopreservation.

Résumé

Thermal stresses of arteries during cryopreservation were investigated using the multiphysics finite element method developed in Ansys. The predictions of this study were verified by comparing with that of the finite difference method proposed by us recently. Most of the existing experimentally determined temperature dependent thermal and mechanical properties were incorporated into the model. The coupled results of thermal and stress fields were presented for arteries. The arteries placed in laminated aluminium/polyethylene bags containing 20 ml of cryoprotective agent (CPA) exposed to various combinations of freezing and warming schemes were modeled. The artery together with its surrounding CPA thin films were regarded as a three layered infinite long cylinder, and the transient thermal stress, thermal gradient, and the temperature inside the arteries were studied. The simulations were used to interpret the crack behaviour of the arteries along with cryopreservation.
