Résumé

In the paper, the author attempts to clarify issues like: 1) What are the specific features of the various compressor technologies and their impact on operating characteristics, reliability, efficiency and cost? 2) Can rotating compressors replace reciprocating compressors and where are their limitations? 3) Is there a clear direction in the future for the preferred application of reciprocating compressors, scrolls and screws?
