Résumé
Improving energy efficiency is a major step toward achieving sustainability in buildings. Automation and control solutions are in particular relevant to significantly reduce energy consumption and improve the comfort of occupants. The impact of such solutions on energy efficiency is dependent on several parameters such as thermal building characteristics (insulation level, thermal inertia, windows to wall ratio, etc.), types of HVAC systems, climatic conditions, but also parameters correlated to building’s activities and occupancy (occupation profile, behaviors etc.). The level of energy reduction or comfort improvement that can be achieved using such solutions is too scarcely known by decision makers. In order to make them aware and then contribute to widely spread automation and control solutions, a research prototype of an aid decision tool was developed. In this work a concept generally applicable for building energy efficiency improvement using automation and control solutions is thus proposed. This tool is addressed to non technical stakeholders and has to provide both demonstrative and fast understandable results to convince of the advantages of applying automation and control solutions. These advantages are mainly expressed in terms of energy and financial gains or comfort improvement. The architecture for the decision-aidi,g tool is mainly composed of three main modules described in this paper: a building-description module, a retrofit-analysis module and a multi-criteria decisional module to demonstrate the benefits of the solutions using relevant qualitative and quantitative indicators about energy efficiency, comfort and cost.
