Conception et essais préliminaires d'un refroidisseur à tube à pulsation de 40 à 80 k à forte élévation de température pour applications spatiales.

Design and preliminary testing of a large heat lift 40 to 80 K pulse tube cooler for space applications.

Auteurs : TROLLIER T., TANCHON J., BUQUET J., et al.

Résumé

A large heat lift 40 to 80 K pulse tube cooler is currently under development in partnership between AL/DTA, CEA/SBT and THALES Cryogenics. The specification of the engineering model is to provide a cooling capacity of 2.3 W at 50 K for 10°C rejection temperature and maximum 160 watts electrical input power to the motors of the compressor. The split coaxial architecture of the pulse tube cold finger and the moving magnet linear motor compressor design used for the EM are presented. The preliminary functional and optimization tests are discussed. An Engineering Model will be delivered to ESA/ESTEC in November 2006 after completion of a qualification levels test campaign. This work is funded by the European Space Agency in the framework of future Earth observation instruments development.
