Résumé

The thermoacoustic refrigeration system is one of the solid alternatives over the conventional refrigeration systems as it uses air or inert gases as refrigerants, which do not cause any harm to the environment and are totally eco-friendly. It works on the basis of basic property of the gas to absorb heat whenever it is compressed and to release heat whenever it is expanded. It deals with producing desired refrigeration effect by utilizing alternate compression and expansion of gas particles by high frequency sound waves. The project is the dissertation work and its duration is one year. It is divided in a few distinct stages. The first step was to decide the cooling load for the system. Accordingly, mechanical assembly for the system is designed. The mechanical assembly basically involves design of components such as stack, resonating tube, selection of loudspeaker, acoustic driver, and heat exchanger. Secondly, the electric assembly for the proposed system is designed. After complete fabrication, testing was done on an hourly basis.
