Résumé

In EN14825 three climate profiles and three profiles for water temperature at the condenser outlet are defined for the calculation of the Seasonal Coefficient of Performance (SCOP) of an air/water heat pump. Especially the combination of the cold climate profile and high water outlet temperatures is critical regarding the possibility to reach SCOP high values. For the classical system setup with two heat exchangers, a compressor and an expansion device, the achieved seasonal performance is often unsatisfactory. Additionally the heat pump must even be switched on at low ambient temperatures in order to avoid too high discharge temperatures at the compressor outlet. The required capacity is then delivered by an electric heater which further reduces the energy efficiency. Different concepts regarding the design of the system, the choice of components and the control of the heat pump are known to increase the operating range of heat pumps to high temperature differences between the heat source and the heat sink while achieving acceptable SCOP. In this paper several of these concepts as well as different refrigerants are compared both in regard of the maximum SCOP as well as the system costs using a numerical screening method. For this purpose the pareto fronts of optimal combinations of heat exchange areas are computed considering the constraint of a limited discharge temperature. The influence of different control strategies and parameters and of different component choices are investigated in a sensitivity analysis.
