Résumé

This work investigates the condensation heat transfer of R407C in plate heat exchangers reporting the experimental measurements of the heat transfer coefficient. This paper presents the experimental results on partial condensation inside three brazed plate heat exchangers with different geometrical characteristics, plate design and aspect ratio. In the case of R407C, the condensation process may be strongly affected by the properties of the non-azeotropic mixture and the relative resistance to the mass transfer. According to the cross sectional area of the single channel, the prototypes have been designed with one, two or three refrigerant ducts, in order to respect the operating test conditions of the experimental set up. The condensation heat transfer coefficients of R407C have been measured at constant inlet saturation pressure of 1.6 MPa and constant superheating of 14 K. The refrigerant mass velocity has been varied from 15 to 40 kg/m2.s whereas the outlet vapour quality between 0.07 and 0.58. The experimental measurements have been compared against three models suggested in the open literature; moreover, a new computation procedure has been developed and validated against the present experimental database.
