The authors present 8 short articles examining aspects of air conditioning: 1) details on the expanding UK air-conditioning market; 2) the diverse nature of the European air conditioning market, split between northern and southern Europe and their different requirements and the importance of green issues; 3) the cost-saving benefits of variable speed drives applied to centrifugal chillers; 4) how pumping cold liquids requires care to be given to pump selection and installation; 5) the reasons for the increasing interest being shown in absorption chilling and how trigeneration can provide electricity and hot water to power an absorption chiller; 6) the characteristics and advantages of absorption chillers for combined heat and power generation; 7) the major growth potential for cooling of new generation international hotels; 8) Daikin's move from R22 in air conditioning equipment to R410A.
