Résumé

Local air conditioners are the most appropriate devices that provide cooling for the majority of rooms during hot summer days without special interventions. The author distinguishes two types: room ("split type") air conditioners and compact window mounted air conditioners. Due to the advantages "at first glance," the room air conditioners are present on the market to an unreasonable extent. it seems justified to consider whether they are more able to satisfy the needs of a pleasant stay in rooms than compact units.
