Résumé

The purpose of this article is to summarise and analyse the criteria for choosing the most appropriate system for the humidification of rooms or processes in the most common applications. These are obviously generic evaluations that do not provide absolute precision, yet they allow the important properties of humidifiers to be classified according to needs. The criteria and parameters that affect the choice of system will be examined in detail, specifically: 1) the range of capacities; 2) the layout of the rooms and the type of air-conditioning system; 3) the physical process chosen and the energy source; 4) the needs of the application; 5) the operating costs; and 6) the initial cost of the installation.
