Résumé

The authors investigated the use of low temperature solar heat in order to obtain evaporation temperatures of -15 °C, using a double stage LiNO3-NH3 absorption refrigeration cycle. The LiNO3-NH3 working pair is chosen for the absorption cycle because it has been demonstrated that this solution yields a higher COP than the ammonia-water solution and it requires a lower temperature to feed the generators. An optimization study is also performed to determine the best way of operation. For a typical clear day during summer in Madrid, it is possible to have about 6 hours of solar refrigeration at -15 °C. The flat plate collectors receive 26.8 MJ/m2, the thermal fluid reaches a maximum temperature of 100 °C and the solar installation works with a daily solar efficiency of 0.27. Condensation temperatures reach 40 °C but only 85 °C are required to feed the generators and to obtain a reasonable COP of 0.3 in the theoretical cycle.
