Résumé

Both experimental investigations and computational modeling (using CFD and multi-zonal codes) were performed to investigate the distribution of CO in the home. The study showed that as the CO emission is initially hot, a buoyant plume will rise to the ceiling. Consequently, a vertical CO concentration gradient is established in the room. This gradient diminishes as the flow spreads through the home. Using data from the study, details of CO poisoning incidents and additional experiments on the audibility of the detectors, a set of siting recommendations was produced.
