Résumé
The terms gas detection and leak detection are not interchangeable, and care must be taken to ensure that the correct meaning is clearly understood. Failure to do so could result in expensive mistakes, or even in prosecution for failing to comply with regulations. Gas detection cannot be relied upon to detect leaks, and may also be susceptible to false alarms due to the effect of fumes, gases and smells.
