Résumé

The author has developed the Gaia snow-melting system which utilizes both geothermal heat and solar heat in summertime. This system has demonstrated an approximately 85% reduction in electric power consumption compared with electric heating cable systems. Also, the author has been developing an air-conditioning system for single-family houses in co-operation with Kyushu University. In this system, direct expansion/condensing units are utilized. Because of this, the system is greatly simplified, and equipment and installation costs can be reduced considerably, also, higher COPs of the heat pump and the system than with conventional systems can be achieved.
