Résumé

Since air distribution is spread out over a large area, localized problems are therefore unlikely. However, because the spaces are large, diffusers cannot be located everywhere. Air distribution in large spaces can be summed up with a few simple axioms: cold air falls; hot air rises. The effect is about (2%/deg C) temperature difference for 0.4 meter/second terminal velocity; use stratification to avoid conditioning spaces without occupants; return air is just as noisy as supply air; returns have little direct influence on air patterns; noise is not always bad. Libraries and other spaces can benefit from constant background noise.
