Effect of the approach to equilibrium factor in an absorption cycle with integrated compression booster.

Résumé

A simulation of a single-effect absorption cycle with an integrated low-pressure compression booster using the solution NH3-LiNO3 is carried out. An adiabatic absorber is simulated, where the subcooling occurs in a heat exchanger before the absorber. All the heat exchangers are simulated as plate-type ones. The influence of the absorber efficiency in terms of approach to equilibrium factor is studied in the cycle for different pressure ratios (1.4 and 1.8) of the vapour compressor. The mass flow recirculation ratio effects are studied too. The results show that the best performance is practically reached with a recirculation ratio of 5. The efficiency of the absorber has more impact on COP than on cooling capacity, being this impact higher for high pressure ratios. For obtaining the same cooling capacity than single-effect absorption cycle the cycle simulated needs lower hot water temperatures when the pressure ratio rises, dropping 20ºC for a pressure ratios of 1.8. Electrical COP has been found to be higher than that of an ammonia vapour compression cycle for comprehensive working conditions.
