Effet de la charge en frigorigène sur la performance des systèmes de conditionnement d'air.

Effect of refrigerant charge on the performance of air conditioning systems.

Résumé

The authors describe an experimental investigation of the effect of low charge level of R22 on the performance of a 3-ton residential air conditioning system. The results are presented and discussed. They show that if a system is undercharged to 90% then the effect is small - a 3.5% reduction in cooling capacity and a 2% decrease in the COP. However, the system performance suffers serious deterioration if the level of charge drops below 80%. Economic analysis showed that the cost of properly charging an undercharged system at 85% charge level, can pay for itself in savings in 3-4 months.
