Résumé

Effective force and flow areas are widely used to estimate the mass flow rate through the reed-type valves in lumped simulation models. However, despite its effect on the flow, the distance between the piston and the discharge port is a parameter that is not commonly considered when calculating the effective areas. The increase of flow restriction caused by the reed-type valve and discharge channel geometry as the piston gets closer to the discharge port is the main effect neglected when the piston postion is not considered. This paper reports a three dimensional model to simulate the discharge process of rolling piston compressor. The model was employed to analyse the influence of the piston on the effective flow and force areas of the discharge reed-type valve of a rolling-piston compressor. Based on the numerical results, correlations are proposed for the effective flow and force areas considering the piston position. Results for the indicator diagram and discharge losses show the importance of the new approach.
