Résumé

Concern about exploitation of the natural environment is growing with respect to the sustainability of architecture, including ventilation. This study was undertaken to elucidate the effects on ventilation of differences in openings prepared for indoor fittings (indoor openings) used for apartment building. We conducted examinations using actual measurements in an experimental dwelling unit and used airflow network analysis to acquire the following knowledge: (1) Cross-ventilation rate of a simple opening can be predicted with sufficient precision. Measured and calculated values agree for an indoor opening of about 0.4 m2 or larger. (2) Cross-ventilation rate of a louver opening with an indoor opening of about 0.3 m2 or larger is comparable to that of a simple opening. (3) A more distinct ventilation path assures less fluctuation in measurements of actual Cross-ventilation rate. Such paths show better agreement with calculated values.
