Résumé

The distribution and thickness of permanently frozen soils (Permafrost) in circumpolar countries (Alaska, Canada, Russia, Norway) are controlled by climatic, hydrologic, geologic, topographic and biologic factors. Any change in the meteorological conditions, such as air temperature and snow cover, will result in changes in the surface temperature of permafrost that are complex and difficult to predict. Impact of global warming is discussed.
