Résumé

Ventilation rates can be assessed using tracer gas techniques, under the assumption of uniform mixing and time invariance. In reality, however, the mechanisms that drive natural ventilation are not steady, but vary continuously over several time scales, depending on the changing outdoor climate, the building thermal dynamics, building systems operation, and the level of occupancy. In this paper, an analytical procedure for estimating time varying air exchange rates from tracer gas time series is formulated and compared with existing analysis methods.
