Résumé
Energy efficiency and indoor air quality (IAQ) have become increasingly important and prominent concerns in building design, especially for large-space buildings due to the high investment costs and energy consumption. Practically prolonging natural ventilation duration, extending intermediate seasons, and reducing the operating time of air conditioning could save energy and also provide good IAQ. This paper presents research on the application of a hybrid ventilation system in a large-space building. The hybrid ventilation system is an all-year operation of natural ventilation coupled with air conditioning. The ventilation is used in intermediate seasons (i.e., spring and autumn) and air conditioning is used in summer and winter. The switch-point temperatures that determine the operating model (i.e. natural ventilation or air conditioning) of the hybrid ventilation system in intermediate seasons are investigated. Analysis of energy savings potential in intermediate seasons shows that the hybrid ventilation system can reduce energy consumption in an efficient way.
