Résumé

The hybrid method for the design and rating of plate-finned tube evaporator was improved adding a new feature, developed to model complex refrigerant circuits and to make the method more flexible and adaptable to any circuitry configuration, in order to simulate real configurations and to optimize their design. The hybrid method combines the accuracy of the results achievable with a small-scale numerical approach and the small computational costs of the analytical methods, allowing the overall performance of a heat exchanger to be calculated starting from local analysis results. Through regression equations obtained by known data (either analytical, experimental or numerical), the algorithm performs calculations on heat transfer rates and pressure drops for both sides of the heat exchanger, as well as on its temperature fields. In this paper, the hybrid method was run for different case studies to describe the influence of circuit arrangement on tube and fin evaporators performance.
