Résumé

A domestic/office small refrigerator (110 W) using R134a refrigerant was used in this study. This refrigerator is operated by a photo voltaic generator, which consists of two photovoltaic modules, which are built for this purpose. The solar system consisted of the following items: the generator, two storage batteries, a charger regulator and an inverter. The performance of the refrigerator was exhibited in several figures where the: power (P, in W), the capacity (Cap, in W), and the coefficient of performance (COP), were treated as the dependent parameters. The evaporating temperature (Te, in °C) and the condensing temperature (Tc, °C) were used as the independent parameters. The periods of work termination and work initiation due to the condition of the batteries charge were monitored. This was due to power generation limitations of the generator. Periods of energy storage in the batteries and energy extraction off the batteries in both charging and discharging modes were also monitored and analyzed. Experimental results showed that solar energy system using deep discharge batteries with inverter is an attractive substitute for the main power; the performance curves indicated an acceptable performance of the unit. No change in performance was noticed for the day long experiment, there were no periods of heating effect to the freezer in off operation conditions.
