Résumé

Taiwan locates in subtropics, a high temperature and humidity climate, which leads to high indoor moisture that causes biological pollutants. The indoor air biological pollutants, such as fungi, and microorganism, are related to the indoor moisture. Therefore, moisture buffering is an important issue regarding indoor air quality and human health. The objectives of this study are confirming the feasibility of Douglas fir and relation between indoor ventilation rate and moisture buffering effect, and suggesting an ordinary, reliable and useful simulation method with moisture buffering effect to architecture related industries for supporting building process. The hygroscopic property, permeability and sorption isotherm which is used as the parameters of numerical simulation, of Douglas fir, is experimented following Japanese Industrial Standard (JIS). Also, the EMPD (Effective Moisture Penetration Depth) method, one of the simplified algorithms of hygroscopic simulation, is used in this research by the program EnergyPlus to simulate moisture buffering performance under the different quantity of Douglas fir. The results show that moisture buffering material, Douglas fir, does moderate the indoor moisture variation and increasing ventilation rate will not assist the performance of the moisture buffering material.
