Résumé

Heat and cooling demands exists often simultaneously in many production processes for example in food and polymer industry. The cooling is usually supplied by electrical driven compression cycles. Absorption cycles are an energy efficient solution to combine the waste heat and the cooling demand in the production processes. A special challenge for a reliable cooling supply is the transient heat source, because many production processes are batch processes. In consequence, the waste heat is delivered of various temperature levels. An absorption cycle is designed and built to investigate the influence of varying temperatures on the absorption cooling process. The working fluids are water and aqueous lithium bromide solution. To reduce the material costs and space requirements the heat exchangers are designed as compact tubular apparatus with an outer tube diameter of 12mm and a distance between the tubes of 12mm. This leads to a higher economic viability of these units. The absorption chiller is installed in a testing environment which can supply the desorber, evaporator and absorber and condenser with water on different temperatures. The characteristics of the absorption cycle for varying operating conditions over a wide temperature range are investigated. An estimation of the optimal operation point is given.
