Résumé

Due to the growing need for the compressed air of higher quality, the water-lubricated twin-screw compressor with water as the only lubricant has drawn much attention to produce clean air absolutely free of oil. In this study, a prototype of water-lubricated screw compressor was developed and a test rig was established to investigate the performance characteristics of the screw compressor under the influence of rotating speed, discharge pressure and water injection flowrate. It was found that an increasing rotating speed led to an almost linear increase of volumetric flowrate and power consumption of the compressor, and also gave rise to higher volumetric efficiency and adiabatic efficiency. However higher discharge pressure had no really obvious impact on volumetric flowrate and volumetric efficiency at a high speed, but resulted in higher power consumption regardless rotating speed. The results also showed that water injection substantially reduces the compressor discharge temperature to achieve the quasi-isothermal compression. Moreover, the volumetric flowrate, volumetric efficiency and adiabatic efficiency increased as the total water injection flowrate increased,, which meant the water injection was not sufficient in the test. The results may provide some reference for the development and improvement on the water-lubricated air screw compressor in the future work.
